Letters home written as a round robin by Ana Grant Birge, wife of Edward Asahel Birge, describing a cruise on the S. S. Arabic of the White Star Line and side trips. Birge's travelling companion was Nan (her daughter Anna) Birge also appears to have been previously acquainted with or met others on the cruise who became friends. Birge was the wife of a University of Wisconsin president.
