Summary
See items under other treaty of this date. Note: Treaty printed in American State Papers: Indian Affairs, 1:696; not printed in Kappler. Note: this treaty is not identical with the other treaty of this date with the same tribes of Indians but is an additional tripartite agreement that included as third parties the Connecticut Land Company incorporated under the name of "the Proprietors of the half million acres of Land lying south of Lake Erie Called Sufferers Land." It provided for the session by the Indians and the purchase by the companies of the Indian claims to the so-called "Connecticut Reserve." The agreement is signed by: Chas. Jouett as Comr. of U.S., Henry Champion for the Connecticut Land Co., and Isaac Mills for the proprietors of the Sufferers' Land , and is sealed by a number of Indian chiefs. The original treaty is in the Indian Treaty File, no. 44 (RG 11), together with resolution of U.S. Senate, Jan. 17, 1806, advising ratification. It was approved by the President, Jan. 25, 1806.
